The Harlequin Box
The Harlequin box, named for a color-type of Great Dane (the spotted ones) is a diskless computer appliance we load with a custom version of Linux, configured with software designed to monitor and perform security audits on your network.
The machine does not run any services that may be exploited and thus cannot be used to compromise the security of your systems. Instead, the machine is configured to pick up mail from a special account hosted at TechnoDane. The only mail that is acted on is mail that has been digitally signed and encrypted with a key kept only at TechnoDane.
The Harlequin box is how TechnoDane is able to run security aduits and to check the status of your network and computers remotely. We are also able to issue commands to the Harlequin box and so long as it is able to connect to our server to get mail, a diganosis of virtually any problem is only a few minutes away.
